What feeling do you get when you wake up to go to work?
- Butterflies in my stomach (due to excitement and joy)
- Moths in my cereal (the opposite of stomach butterflies)
- Meh (I am indifferent)
If you answered anything other than “A,” it might be time to reevaluate things at work. Life is too short to do anything other than what you love - we would know! Here at ImageFIRST Connecticut, we take pride in being somewhere that people look forward to going every day. We always put our associates first, and our team continuously strives to be a remarkable place to work.
If you are looking to boost your colleagues’ morale, get to know each other. And we mean TRULY know each other. Not just the standard facts like where you went to school and how many siblings you have.
One way you can achieve this is by setting up interactive team-building games that allow people from different departments and backgrounds to come together to become friends. Share experiences, stories and memories with one another. This helps build trust, boost morale and improve productivity.
Some questions you could ask:
- Have you ever been to any particularly cool concerts, sporting events or museums?
- What are your favorite TV shows and movies?
- What are your favorite foods and restaurants?
It doesn’t always have to be work-related. Lighten the mood and show you care by having interactive activities that encourage communication and increase confidence levels. For example, ImageFIRST Fort Myers recently implemented a weekly “Think Positive” game during which an associate is chosen, and all other associates write a brief note on why they are grateful to work with that individual. The chosen associate also writes a note for the entire team that expresses his/her gratitude for them.
Some responses that were written include:
- “Thanks everyone for always being there to support each other.”
- “I like that everyone works as a family.”
- “Everyone works hard and gets the job done as a team.”
